How do you change the FONT for your screen name or make it look more creative?

I see a lot of people on here that are creative with their screen names. Someone did mine for me so all I had to do was copy %26amp; paste it:

He gave me a few websites where I can copy %26amp; paste other letters %26amp; symbols like:

But I was wondering how do you use the character map to change your font? Or what other ways are there to change the font to make your screen name look more creative?

You can't. Those symbols in your username only work because the characters are part of the extended ASCII character set (half of those are standard characters in different languages or even English - tildes, Pound sign, Yen sign, omega, accent characters are nothing special).

In order to change the font, you have to specify that font in either the website's HTML, or its style sheet. Which you don't have access to on sites like Yahoo.

And it will only work if all site visitors also have that font, which is why there is a set of standard ';web-safe'; fonts you should use for website development to ensure that all visitors will see your site properly.

But that's worked out pretty well so far on sites like this, seeing as it's your user NAME, not your user symbol. Unless you're The Artist Formerly Know As Prince there's no reason to do anything otherwise. How do you change the FONT for your screen name or make it look more creative?
open MS word, choose insert %26gt; symbol. then in the drop down menu, choose the font, usually it's wingdings or symbols.
Just try it with different fonts.
